Global E-channel activity increased by
85% in Q1-2014 as recession fears fade
“It’s clear that recession fears have faded
in Europe and other affected markets”, according to Martijn Hoogeveen, CEO of
Icecat: the number of connected channel partners has expanded in Q1-2014 by 34%
compared to Q1-2013. In Q1-2014 Icecat facilitated 627 Million data-sheet
downloads (DDs) – an increase by 85% - for products from 8,659 different brands
in 154 different countries. A data-sheet contains product specifications as
standardized by Icecat, and additional data if permitted by the respective
brand. The number of monitored brands increased by 41% and the number of
supported categories grew by 16%. The number of supported channel partners and ecommerce
platforms increased steeply by 34% and 53% respectively.

In the Global e-channel, the
fastest year-on-year growth of download activity is noticed in respectively
Slovakia, India and South-Africa. In terms of regions, Eastern-Europe, the
BRICS and East-Asia are outperforming other regions in terms of expansion.
